Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Work has begun!!!!  

This past weekend Lindsay and I got to know the city of LA a little bit better.  We found the drug store, Target and the grocery store.  We have also frequented some GREAT places to eat right around us.  

Monday we had a full day of orientation packets on the computer to complete that was tedious but informational.  We also toured the unit and got to meet a lot of the staff.  Everyone seemed very nice and excited to see some new faces (plus more bodies to help out)!!  Today we had computer class to learn all about their computer charting system...Cerner.  We got our badges and parking permits and met some other travelers!! 

Friday and Saturday we will work our first shifts in the unit and we cannot wait.  Just some more exploring LA before we hit the unit!  Will keep you posted on what is going on way out here on the west coast :)

LOS ANGELES!!!!!

I made it to LA!!!!!! Got here to our new apartment awhile ago and got our keys, assigned parking spots and have started moving in!

It is near downtown LA and looks like a really cute area. Lots of people walking around and some awesome restaurants and places to shop. Can't believe it is here...FINALLY!

I am really doing this and going through with it :) It is very exciting but also overwhelming. A little nervous but more excited than anything. Lindsay and I just ordered some amazing local LA paninis and are going to unpack everything later.

Tomorrow is a day of exploring...finding a Target, grocery store and just fun stuff to do around here! Can't wait to get to know my new city of LA! :)

Sacramento

Lindsay and I arrived in Sacramento, CA last night...FINALLY!!!! We took it easy last night ordering room service and just hanging out watching TV and trying to learn more about LA.

Today we are going to get our California Nursing Licenses!!!!! Hopefully everything goes off without a hitch and we have them in hand by the end of the day...that would be great!!!

Miss all my Georgia people...you know who you are! Can't wait to come back and visit in October!

First day on the Road

Left Atlanta today in route to LA at about 2:30pm. Just got to Little Rock, AR about half an hour ago. It was an uneventful trip and easy but I can tell you now that I am going to be tired of driving before next Wednesday...that is going to be bad!!!!

Gotta get some sleep..in the 5th state I have been in today!!!!!

LA Bound

Hittin' the road. Gonna be riding along in my automobile for like the next four days so give me a call!!!! Can't believe it is here already but I am ready...I think!

Reality...

Leaving has really hit me... I went swimming with Rebekah today and when I got home my sister Miriam and her husband Josh were gone and there was a present on my bed. I opened the card and didn't even have to read it, I started crying.

Even though this new adventure is something that I REALLY want to do and am VERY excited for, it is sad having to leave everyone behind. I knew all along that leaving was the reality for me I guess I just didn't realize that me leaving was a reality for everyone else as well.

Today I have been preparing to leave. Been organizing and packing up, doing laundry and saying goodbyes. I just packed my car and now there is only one things left to do...LEAVE!

Busy Busy

Kind of a crazy couple of days. Down to Cordele yesterday to hang out with Leigh Ann and the guys then the guys bail!!! Typical. Had a good day though swimming with Lainie then fishing off the dock and swimming once again last night :) Got to sleep with the sweetest little girlie ever
and got up early this morning to drive to Macon to pick up paperwork for CA. Drove back to Cordele for more swimming and lunch then back up to Atlanta to have dinner and play X-Box with Rebekah and Baby Lin (our favorite thing to do!).

Been BUSY trying to see everyone and spend some quality time before packing up and driving to Cali on Sunday. I can't wait!!!!! It's only going to get busier from here on out...oh well!

Goodbye :(

Just took two very special girls to lunch and had to say goodbye to them since I am leaving for LA. Had a nice lunch and just chatted about life. I am going to miss you Megs and Torrie but I will always be only a phone call away!!!!!

Told my bestfriend Rebekah goodbye on Monday and that was hard. Had lunch with her at our favorite french restaurant. It really doesn't feel like I said goodbye to her though cause we still talk everyday. I hope it continues to feel like that until I get to see her again in October for her baby shower!!!!! Love all you guys and will miss you SOOOO much while I am in LA!

BEACH!!!!

Had an awesome girls trip to Vilano Beach in St. Augustine, FL. Went with a couple friends, Rebekah and Leigh Ann and had a GREAT time. Layed on the beach, did a little shopping at the outlet mall and ate some wonderful seafood. Wish I could go back already :)

A New Adventure

My new adventure is about to begin...in less than 5 days!!!!! I can't believe that my travel nursing career is about to begin. It feels like I have waited for it to start for forever and now it is finally here, YAY!!!!!

Lindsay and I are leaving for LA Sunday afternoon and will hopefully be there in 3-4 days. I will be working at Children's of Los Angeles in their NICU. First I have to travel to Sacramento to get my California nursing license and then I can officially start. Work will start up for me on August 11, 2008.

I hope to have lots of visitors while in LA (family and friends all always welcome)! I have a few trips planned to come back to the east coast for a few special events and will try my hardest to keep in touch. I will miss you guys out here!!!!!!!!
